Gladys Dell Meador of Plano, Texas passed away July 26, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on August 23, 1930, the youngest child of Joe Green and Gladys Irene Parmer in Hugo, Oklahoma. Dell grew up in Oklahoma, living in Boswell and other towns until her family settled in Bethany, where she attended Bethany Nazarene College, now known as Southern Nazarene University. She married Myron Eugene Meador, her high school sweetheart, on December 1, 1949. The couple lived in Oklahoma and Mississippi, for a short time, and then mostly in Dallas until the 1980s.
Dell worked in the banking industry and began her career as a teller in Bethany. In Dallas, she worked at Dallas Federal Savings & Loan as a loan officer for many years. Dell and Myron moved to Colorado Springs in 1982 and greatly enjoyed the mountains, before moving to warmer weather in Mesa and Chandler, Arizona. In 1990, the couple moved to Plano, Texas to be with family. Dell worked for the City of Carrollton Municipal Court, until she retired in 2000.
Dell loved being with family friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and Richardson First Church of the Nazarene and attended Prestonwood Baptist Church as well. She was active in the women’s ministry and was a long-standing host of wedding and baby showers. She had a flare for flower arranging and used her talent at events and for the altar display in the church sanctuary. She sang soprano in the church choir.
Dell is survived by her daughters, Jan Brasher and husband, Tim, of Scottsdale, Arizona and Julie Scherer of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Chanel Mayorga and husband, Joey, Kelsey McAnally and husband, Brad, Cody Scherer and wife, Kelsie, and Nathan Brasher and wife, Karaline; great-grandchildren, Mateo Mayorga, Troy Mayorga, Leo Brasher, Violet Brasher, Pierce McAnally, Weller Scherer and Wilkins Scherer.
Dell was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Myron Meador; parents, Joe and Gladys Parmer; sisters, Myrna Sparks, Maurine Johnson, and Ima Jo Smith, and brother, Lancie Green.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
