IN LOVING MEMORY

Gladine Harper Hayes

Sep 05 1932 - Aug 23 2023

Gladine Harper Hayes was born on September 5, 1932, to James Pascal Harper and Neva Nicely Harper. She passed away on August 23, 2023 in Denison, Texas at the age of 90 years.

Gladine married the love of her life, Dwayne Griffin Hayes in Ector on December 27, 1957, with Dwayne’s grandfather, Marion Miller, officiating. But while their marriage vows were made in 1957, their lifelong journey began at age six when they met in elementary school. Gladine and Dwayne lived and worked in Dallas then Austin. She was employed by Texas Instruments for many years and served as the executive secretary to the president of Texas Instruments at the pinnacle of her career. After Dwayne and Gladine’s careers ended, they moved to Luella, Texas.

Throughout her life, Gladine served the Lord in the manner of what Jesus said in Matthew 6. She served the needy with her gifts and service for the glory of her Lord, including transporting friends and neighbors to appointments and giving abundantly to causes to care for children in need: specifically, St. Jude’s Hospital.

Gladine was known by all who encountered her to have a positive, loving, determined, and uplifting countenance. She hosted family events and joyfully contributed to family life events, leaving a mark of love on the memories of those she encountered. Gladine was especially glad to live in the Golden Acers neighborhood where she was cared for and loved by neighbors.

Gladine is survived by niece, Pam White of Trenton; nephew, Guy B. Ely of Whitewright; grand-nieces and grand-nephew, Melissa Kells of Whitewright, Randall Lee of Whitewright, Chris Ely of Whitewright and, Leslie Heatherington of Coppell; numerous great-grand-nieces and great-grand-nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Dwayne Hayes; parents, James and Neva Harper and sisters Alice Ely, Ethel White, Ann Tasker and Johnnie Harper; and niece Bonnie Fay Lee and nephew Bill White.

Graveside services will be held 10am Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Celebrating her life will be grand-nephew, Patrick Heatherington.
