Gerry Alan Krayenhagen went home to his Lord and Savior on August 31, 2022, he passed at his home in Leonard, TX surrounded by his family. Gerry was born October 4, 1960 in Ida Grove, Iowa to Kenneth Walter and Karen Kay (Winters) Krayenhagen. He grew up in Iowa and started his college years at Iowa State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Texas Instruments brought him to Texas, where he relocated in May 1984 to Plano, Texas. Gerry then set his sites on earning his Masters degree in Finance and Operations Research from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Gerry grew up doing masonry work with his father’s business, he enjoyed wood-working and made beautiful furniture pieces and cabinetry. Gerry became an outdoorsman learning how to trap, and enjoyed hunting and fishing as his favorite pastimes. He was a brilliant man, and held various leadership positions in finance and engineering throughout his professional career. For many years Gerry was an independent day-trader, so successful the New York Times published an article about him in 1997. Gerry was an entrepreneur using his exemplary work ethic and incredibly sharp mind. There is no way to describe all of his talents. Gerry married his now ex-wife, Carol Krayenhagen, and they adopted their daughter Rachael Leigh Krayenhagen in January 1996.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Karen Krayenhagen, his brother Greg Krayenhagen, and other extended family members. Gerry is survived by his daughter, Rachael Krayenhagen of Plano, Texas, brothers Jeff, Mike (wife Vera), and Jon Krayenhagen, and best friend, Carol Krayenhagen, Gary and Deloris Winters of Iowa, nieces and nephews Heather Sellers (husband Kevin), Amber Price (husband Matt), Steven Krayenhagen (wife Amber), Rebecca Krayenhagen (boyfriend Ray), and Tyler Krayenhagen, and many more cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, TX 75023.
