Geraldine “Gerry” Coombs Messer of Plano, Texas passed away December 22, 2016, at the age of 79. She was born November 11, 1937, to Kenneth Walker Coombs and Elsie Mae (Bell) Coombs in Fort Worth, Texas. Gerry grew up in Fort Worth, Texas where she graduated from Fort Worth Poly Tech High School and attended Texas Christian University. She married Charles Nelson Messer on August 29, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas. Gerry was an award winning sales person and later held an executive assistant position with Nortel. She enjoyed shopping, playing bridge, and 42. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Gerry is survived by her son, Charles Mark Messer and fiancée Sherry Brennan of Gun Barrel City, Texas; daughters, Dawna Comeaux and fiancée Craig Dudley of The Woodlands, Texas and Marletta Smith and husband Jimmy of Plano, Texas; mother, Elsie Coombs of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa Barton and husband Emmett, Kayleigh Comeaux, Kimber Comeaux, Sarah Smith, and Courtney Smith; great-grandchildren, Sofia Akers and Hudson Barnes; brother, Dennis Coombs and wife Mary and their family of McKinney, Texas; and a host of loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nelson Messer and father, Kenneth Walker Coombs.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
