THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF
Gerald Quinn Ellis
Gerald Quinn Ellis, known as “Crow” passed away May 12, 2025, at the age of 76, at Baybrooke Nursing Home in McKinney, Texas. His family and friends loved him very much.
Gerald Quinn Ellis was born on December 29, 1948, to the parentage of Myrtle Hunter Ellis in McKinney, Texas. He attended Doty High through the 11th grade, then went to McKinney High School where he graduated. He played football and was in Auto Mechanics.
Gerald graduated from American Trades Institute, where he became a Certified Mechanic. He loved to work on cars, ride motorcycles, and attend Hot Rod Racing events, and go bowling with his brother-in-law Ralph Johnson, his buddy Roy Reverly and friends. Gerald served in the Army.
Gerald accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior during his lifetime. He was an active member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Charles Samuel Wattley. He loved driving the church van, doing the church yard and most of all being an Usher. He would engage in conversations with all individuals who entered "THE MARK." On numerous Sundays during the sermon, he would respond to Pastor Wattley's remarks while performing his duties in the Hospitality Ministry at the rear entrance, which elicited laughter from the congregation. Gerald deeply loved his church and church family.
Gerald leaves to cherish his memories his children: Laurian Breyon Martin, Forney, Texas; Quinn Chandler, Princeton, Texas; Jermaine, Eric and Andre Thrasher, Athens, Georgia; step-children: Laquisha and Kevin Jones, McKinney, Texas; his grandchildren: Alexis Renae Robinson, Timothy Martin III, Latoyra Sears, Hoace and Quincy Johnson, great grandchildren: A’Laya and Kayden McGuire, Ka’Loni Bables; his brother: Norman W. Ellis, Dallas, Texas; sisters: Kay and Rose Ellis, McKinney, Texas; Peggy Johnson (Ralph), Allen, Texas; nephews: Ralph II and Ryan Johnson, Las Vegas, Nevada; cousins: Billy and Deborah Newsome, Pastor Charles Wattley, Larry Jagours (Linda), Jesse and Larry
Connor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.
Gerald was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Myrtle Ellis; wife, Brenda K. Edmond; daughter, Tabitha Ellis; son, Cory Ellis; wife, Carol Ellis; brothers, Cornell Terrell and Oscar Ellis, Jr.; sisters, Alma Pearson and Brenda Valentine; and companion, Francile Mouton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2025 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas.
