Gerald “Jerry” Lipowski, most recently of McKinney, Texas passed away on August 13, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born on June 18, 1936 to parents Anthony Lipowski and Anna (Kilar) Lipowski in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up before moving to Bergen County, New Jersey and later Ormond Beach, Florida. He later joined one of his daughters in Texas.
On June 10, 1961, Jerry married Claire Piccoli, in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, where they raised three daughters. Jerry's family was his pride and joy, and he found great fulfillment in his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. He had a terrific, dry sense of humor that kept his children and grandchildren on their toes.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he demonstrated the same dedication and integrity that marked every aspect of his life. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany where he was part of the 11th Airborne Division and also was a member of a basketball team dedicated to entertaining the troops. He was employed by The American Can Company and later launched a successful career in residential and commercial real estate in northern New Jersey. He served on the boards and as President of several professional organizations and managed a number of major property sales and auctions. He completed the rigorous program to obtain the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) professional designation.
An avid golfer, Jerry spent many happy hours on the greens of Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach. His love for the game was matched only by the camaraderie he shared with his fellow golfers. In addition to golf, Jerry enjoyed the game of baseball, especially following his favorite team, the Yankees. He also pursued his passion for woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces that will be cherished by his family.
Jerry is survived by daughters Lisa Posey and husband Scott of State College, Pennsylvania, Christine Restmeyer and husband Bill of McKinney, Texas, Suzanne Restmeyer and husband Dan of Elk Grove, California; grandchildren Nicole Restmeyer, Eric Restmeyer, Kyle Posey, Lindsay Restmeyer, Grant Restmeyer, Emily Restmeyer; and a host of family members and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Anna Kilar Lipowski, and his wife, Claire Piccoli Lipowski.
