Georgine Hughes (White) of McKinney, Texas (formally of Cleveland, OH) passed away November 14, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Athens, Alabama to William and Maggie White. Georgine moved to Cleveland, Ohio as a child where she was a product of the Cleveland Public School system and a proud graduate of Central High School. After graduation, she met and married William L. Hughes. To that union was born 2 daughters Sandra (Michael) and Sharon Valerie.
Georgine started her career at the phone company in 1953 as an elevator operator. She held many positions while there and retired as a Supervisor in the Human Resources department after 33 years of dedicated work. Upon retirement, Georgine enjoyed taking care of her flower garden at her home. Months of planning went into making sure that it was in full bloom by June of each year. While she loved gardening, family was most important to her. She taught her girls Sandra, Valerie and Granddaughter Dawn the value of hard work and education. She was the Matriarch of the family and instilled in them goals and values to live by. She gave many years of dedicated work into the loves of her life: her gardens, her home and Mt. Herman Baptist Church and especially her family. Georgine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Georgine is survived by her daughters, Sandra Dinkins and husband, Michael of Fairview, Texas and Sharon Valerie Hughes of McKinney, Texas; granddaughters, Dawn May and husband, Keith of Carmel, Indiana and Lorrie Sanders and husband, James of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Timothy Dinkins of Los Angeles; great-grandsons, Jaden Michael May of Carmel, Indiana and Andre Bowen of Las Vegas, Nevada; and great-granddaughter, Journey Sanders of Las Vegas, Nevada.
