IN LOVING MEMORY

George Wills Moore, III

Sep 29 1935 - Nov 14 2022

George Wills Moore, III of Josephine, Texas passed away November 14, 2022 at the age of 87. He was born on September 29, 1935 to George Wills Moore, Jr. and Viola Audrey (Sharpe) Moore in Richmond, Virginia. Like the multiple generations before him, George grew up on his family’s farm in Midlothian, Virginia. George earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and was a proud Hokie. George married his first love, Barbara Jane Beck, on August 17, 1956. After starting a family in Virginia, they moved to Wethersfield, CT in 1973.

George could fix anything around the house and took pride in his handiwork. During his free time, George could be found tinkering at his workbench, building his own stereo system, or under the hood of the family car.  George is lovingly remembered for his wisdom and wealth of knowledge, generosity, love of books, gentle smile and laughter.

Over the course of the 39 years that George was employed by Industrial Risk Insurers, he consulted countless factories and plants across the nation for chemical and process safety protocols. George was especially known as an expert in petroleum refining and was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. George always had a keen sense of geography and felt fortunate to travel around the world. He enjoyed gaining an intimate understanding of the different regions of our country as a consequence of his business travels.

George and Barbara loved to travel for vacations and extended visits with their children and grandchildren. They relocated to Allen, TX to be closer to family. After Barbara passed in March of 2011, George moved to Rockwall, TX.

George was grateful to find his second life partner in Jeanne Amelia Richeson. On March 28, 2015, George and Jeanne had a commitment ceremony. She was his loving partner until her passing in July of 2021. George and Jeanne enjoyed exploring the Southwest US along with visiting their families in the east.

George had a deep love for his family: Pam and George Sardo of Josephine, TX, their children Paul Benson (Mary), Lynda Pontello, and Andrea Sardo; Judy and Peter (deceased) Jones of Princeton, TX, and their child Veronica Jones; Stan and Sue Moore of Wethersfield, CT, their children Brandon Moore, Katelyn Carbone, and Kirsten Moore; Steve and Sarah Moore of Richmond, VA, their children Austin Moore (Kelsey) and Natalie Moore (deceased); Irma and Philip Allegretti of Pomfret, CT, their children John Allegretti, Jay Allegretti, and Sam Allegretti; Robert Moore and Kristine Kelly of Stowe, VT. George also leaves Jeanne’s children: Dennis and Tracey of Sunrise Beach, MO; Kathi Richeson of Kansas City, MO; and Kevin Richeson of Rockwall, TX. George was blessed with six great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.

George loved history and researching genealogy.  Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia helped him to successfully trace his family ancestry back to the 1600’s.  In lieu of flowers and in his memory, donations to the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia would be appreciated. This can be done online through their website at  https://chesterfieldhistory.com/HTML/Donations.html or mailed to PO Box 40, Chesterfield, VA 23832.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
