IN LOVING MEMORY

George Sayegh

Nov 27 1993 - Nov 25 2024

George Sayegh, 30, passed into the arms of our Lord from cardiac arrest on November 25, 2024.

George was born November 27, 1993, and was baptized at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.  He participated in Sunday School, served as an altar boy and became captain of the altar boys.

Through his early years, George excelled in his pursuit of academics, athletics, and arts. He won awards competing in chess tournaments and for his talent playing the saxophone, and participated in tennis, basketball, football, and soccer. George attended Trinity Christian Academy and Rice Middle School and graduated with honors from Plano Senior High School. George had perfect attendance from kindergarten through twelfth grade. After high school he attended the Aviation Institute of Maintenance.

Growing up, George loved spending many summers at Camp Stewart where he enjoyed outdoor activities including horseback riding, canoeing, archery and beautiful campfires in the Hill Country of Texas — connecting him to a place also beloved by his mother from her own summers at Camp Mystic when she was a young girl.

Big dreams and hard work led George on adventures like traveling to New Zealand and Australia through the People to People Student Ambassador Program and his internship in high school for Congressman Pete Sessions in Washington D.C.

George was a devoted older brother to his siblings, Stephan and Brandon, who he loved very much. He loved spending time with his family at the beach as well as fishing and snowboarding.

George served as Vice President of the Young Men’s Service League and spent many hours volunteering through this wonderful organization.  He showed kindness and respect to those less fortunate and always offered a helping hand.  He enjoyed volunteering with his father and brothers at the annual Greek Festival at their church.

George lost his long battle with mental illness. His parents never stopped praying or advocating for him and the family will always be grateful to their kind and irreplaceable friends for their generosity, love and compassion toward George. They are comforted that he has finally found peace, as he rests safely in the gracious and accepting Light of our Savior.

George is survived by his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Sayegh (Brenda) and his brother, Stephan Sayegh. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frank George, Sr. (Jeanette), along with beloved aunts, uncles, and many cousins, and devoted friend Marie Totah who was a constant source of love and encouragement all the days of his life. He will be laid to rest beside his brother, Brandon Sayegh, who passed away in 2019 in a tragic car accident. George was preceded in death also by his maternal grandfather, Mr. Frank George, Sr., and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Sayegh.

Services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75240 with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, followed by a Meal of Mercy at 12:30 p.m.  Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Roselawn Park Cemetery, 2591 E. US Highway 84, Palestine, Texas 75801.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be given either to the Benevolent Fund of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75240, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at: ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
