George Nowik of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 6, 2017 at the age of 72. He was born on July 12, 1945 to Konstanty and Tania (Pilecki) Nowik in Watenstedt, Germany. George married Olga Pup on October 6, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. George obtained his bachelor degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. He was a Director of Business Development for several telecommunications companies retiring in 2000. George was active with the Democratic National Committee in Collin County where he was a precinct chairman. He was a member of St. Seraphim Orthodox Church in Dallas, Texas and St. George Belarusian Orthodox Church in Chicago, Illinois.
George is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Olga Nowik of McKinney, Texas; son, Nicholas Nowik and wife, Ivy of Allen, Texas; daughter, Anastasia Yates and husband, Steve of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Alexander Nowik, Ava Nowik, Georgia Nowik, Kalina Yates and Patrick Yates; brother, Slava Nowik of Minsk Belarus; and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Konstanty and Tania Nowik.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Elmwood Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
