IN LOVING MEMORY

George Nelson Ostrander, III

Oct 08 1943 - Mar 24 2026

George Nelson Ostrander III, our sweet Gogo, left this world on March 24, 2026, at the age of 82. He went to bed on Monday next to his cherished wife Peggy after a full day working at PYSA making plans for the coming year and preparing for the Dallas Cup. In the early morning hours, he woke up with Jesus.

George was a New Yorker born on October 8, 1943, to George and Blanche Ostrander in Albany, New York. He grew up in East Greenbush, NY where he was baptized into the Catholic Church.

George was a graduate of Columbia High School where he played basketball, baseball, ran track and was the punter on the football team and served as class president. He had great stories of working at the Carvel Ice Cream Shop. He enjoyed jokingly telling his family he was selected as “most popular boy”. George earned his BBA from Northern Arizona University where he was the president of his Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, followed by an MBA from the University of Arizona in Tucson. He traveled to NY and AZ annually to attend reunions and gather with lifelong cherished friends and fraternity brothers.

George began his career as a Market Analyst at United Airlines in Chicago, IL. During his time in Chicago, his adored daughter Amber was born. He left United Airlines to become a franchise owner in Richardson, TX where he purchased Dunkin’ Donuts. Soon after his adored son Chad was born. George then purchased Elam Broom and Mop Manufacturing Company and expanded the business to Mesquite, TX. He operated that business until 2024.

George married the love of his life, Peggy, in 2001 and she brought immense joy to his life. Together they had wonderful adventures all over the world. They traveled to 6 continents and 110 countries.

George had many passions including the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, but none were bigger than soccer. He was the proud president of the Plano Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) for 24 years and dedicated over 50 years impacting the lives of countless young athletes, including coaching the All Americans soccer team. George was an icon in the North Texas soccer community.

George was truly one-of-a-kind. He was loved by all. He was dedicated to his family. He loved youth soccer. George Ostrander was always on the go…Gogo. His larger-than-life presence, his kind, generous and playful spirit and his memorable voice will be so dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George’s survivors include Peggy, Amber, Chad and his precious granddaughter Wesley, who was the apple of his eye. He was her number one fan and never missed her soccer or volleyball games. His grandson Ty who he lovingly said has the “Ostrander brain”, his daughter-in-law Aimee, his adored hockey-playing granddaughters Dillon and Blake, and his namesake grandson George, with whom he shares a remarkable kindred spirit, stepdaughters Amanda and Alana (Dustin), grandson Joseph and granddaughter Ivy, sister Jean and so many other loving family members and friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday,  April 10, 2026, at St. Andrew Methodist Church ~ Hasley Chapel, 5811 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093.
