George Alexander Hendrix, age 97, of McKinney, Texas was received into Heaven on November 7, 2014. At the time of his passing he was in Plano, Texas. He was born on January 24, 1917 in Quanah, TX to Willie Henry and Lou Bertie Lee (Baxter) Hendrix. In 1942, George married Gertrude Prather in Wichita Falls, Texas. George served during World War II in the United States Army-Air Corp and was stationed in The South Pacific. Later in life he was a Commercial Equipment Operator and Mechanic. He was also active in the Masonic Organization.
George is survived by his sister, Audrey Humphrey of Celina, Texas; brother, Henry Hendrix, Jr. of Fairfax, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great great-nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by his parents Willie Henry and Lou Bertie Lee (Baxter) Hendrix, three brothers, Clifford, Dave and Loyd Hendrix and his first wife, Gertrude Hendrix and second wife, Syble Hendrix.
George loved his family and country and will be greatly missed by all.
A Graveside Service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1555 CR 13, Tulia, Texas 79088, on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Celina, TX for a Visitation that will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
