George Theodore Carlson

George Theodore Carlson was born February 21, 1933 in Hancock, MI to George and Lulu Carlson and passed away on January 20, 2009. He graduated from Hancock High School where he played basketball. George graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in civil engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curtis. After serving in the US Air Force, he worked for the Corps of Engineers for 35 years before retiring in 1995. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Lois (Graham) Carlson; son Brian Carlson and wife Julie, their children Rachel and Braden; son Eric Carlson and his children Corey and Nicolas; daughter Karen Huffman and husband, Tim and their children Austin and Ashley; brothers Gordon and wife Dorothy of Michigan, Robert and wife Nancy of Florida and sister Judith Haataja and husband Robert of Michigan. He is also survived by six nephews, one niece, five grandnephews and six grandnieces. George was a sports fan who loved the Florida Gators, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Tigers. He was a skilled pool player and enjoyed working on the computer. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Billy Echols Richter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
