Gene Liu of New York went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the age of 60.

Gene was born on July 21, 1965, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. At the age of 12, he immigrated to the United States, settling in New York in 1977. He later attended Stony Brook University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

Following graduation, Gene began his career at a Wall Street firm before spending ten years at Strategic Insight. In 2002, he founded Genesys Research, driven by a vision to provide high-level expertise and quality research to financial institutions around the world. For over 20 years, Gene built his company with integrity, excellence, and dedication.

In 1987, Gene met the love of his life, Hyon-Me. They were married on December 28, 1988, in New York, New York, and shared a devoted marriage marked by faith, partnership, and love.

Since 2011, Gene and Hyon-Me faithfully served international students through International Student Fellowship ministries. Gene was deeply passionate about sharing God’s love through extraordinary generosity and hospitality, welcoming countless students into his home and life. Gene lived a vibrant and adventurous life. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, playing guitar, photography, riding motorcycles, and exploring new foods as an enthusiastic foodie. Above all, Gene cherished time with his family. He especially delighted in his role as “yieyie” (grandfather) to his beloved grandchildren. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, Aiden and Charlotte.

Gene was preceded in death by his father, Chien Liu, and his mother, Chun-fang Cheng.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hyon-Me Liu; his daughters, Danielle Liu Hatchell and her husband, Mark Hatchell, and Naomi Liu Freeman and her husband, Michael Freeman; his grandchildren, Aiden and Charlotte Hatchell; one brother; one sister; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Prestonwood Baptist Church, located at 6801 Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas 75093.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
