Gene L. Weaver

Gene L. Weaver, age 83, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2022 in Fort Myers.  He was born on April 5, 1939 in Shady Point, Oklahoma to the late Judge Nolus and Alma (Clark) Weaver.  Gene graduated from Poteau High School, Class of 1957, in Poteau, Oklahoma and continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Engineering.  During his time at the University of Oklahoma, he participated in the Navy ROTC program and subsequently received a commission to serve as a lieutenant on the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear submarine.  Gene received an Honorable Discharge on his birthday, April 5, 1967 from the Navy, serving a total of 6 years.  He was a generous man and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, woodworking, and gardening.  Gene also enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Oklahoma Sooners.  He loved serving his community and most of all, sharing the gospel through evangelism and Bible study.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Weaver of Fort Myers, Florida; daughters & sons-in-law, Denise and Alan Cannefax of Keller, Texas and Dagney and Brandon Duck of Keller, Texas; step-daughters, Michelle Medrano and husband, Ticho of Arlington, Texas, Taleen Baliozian of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Elizabeth Baliozian of New York City, New York; sister, Erma Alexander of Corsicana, Texas; and 9 grandchildren, Addison “Addie” Duck, Ainsley Duck, Aylee Duck, Conner Cannefax, Lily Cannefax, Halen Medrano, Ramone Medrano, Jovi Medrano and Valens Medrano.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Dean (Rodolph) Weaver; sisters, Leora Page and Jewell Nored and brothers, Samuel “Bud” Weaver, Judge “Red” Weaver, and Thomas “Tom” Weaver.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening, December 28, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
