Gaylea Lunday passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 65 in Aubrey, TX, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 26, 1959, in Borger, TX, she was the cherished daughter of G.H. Lunday and Ruby Holley Lunday.
Gaylea grew up in Fritch, TX and excelled in high school band and basketball at Sanford-Fritch High School. During her college career, Gaylea played basketball for Amarillo College and Rice University, graduating from Rice University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Professionally, Gaylea had a long and successful career, finding her passion in medical recruiting. She went on to start her own successful company, Fishers of Men Medical Group. Gaylea loved basketball, proudly supporting her daughter, Micah, as she followed in her footsteps playing for Texas Christian University. She loved being involved with her grandkids and enjoyed spending time with family and friends who always found her upbeat and smiling, even when she didn’t feel well. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, Mom, Mimi, and friend to so many.
She lived life to the fullest, enjoying traveling, RVing, taking Alaskan cruises, and her favorite city San Francisco. As a Christian, she was entirely devoted to Jesus and trusted Him with her life. Her great hope was to bring honor and glory to Him, and she did, both in life and in death.
Gaylea was preceded in death by her parents, G.H. and Ruby Holley Lunday. Gaylea is survived by her two loving daughters, Jessica Sumner and her husband Bryan of Celina, TX and Micah Garoutte and her wife, Lauren Ainsley of Aubrey, TX; grandchildren, Ayden Hebert and Morgan Sumner; brother, Michael Lunday and his wife, Lorie of Melissa, TX; nieces, Allison Lunday of Austin, TX, and Elizabeth Lunday of New York City, NY; aunt, Debra Lunday Wells and her husband Derrol of Fritch, TX; many cousins, and close family friend, Jim Sweany of Belle Plain, KS.
A graveside service will be held at Boonsville Cemetery in Bridgeport, TX, on December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
