IN LOVING MEMORY

Gary Vance Stewart

May 03 1950 - Jun 13 2018

Gary Vance Stewart, 68, of Anna, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2018.  He passed away at his home in the arms of the love of his life; his wife Debra Stewart.  Gary was born May 3, 1950, to Carl Vance Stewart and Elizabeth (Kelly) Stewart in East Liverpool, Ohio. Gary married Debra on July 31, 1971, in Newell, West Virginia and they had two AMAZING kids, Amy Renee Green and Benjamin Lloyd Stewart.

He served our country proudly in the United States Army for 24 years; from being on the ground in combat during the Vietnam War to steering the career paths and lives of  thousands of soldiers.  Gary served both in the United States and abroad during his military career.

He enjoyed oil painting, working with wood, star trek movies, yellow cake with chocolate icing, and dancing with his wife.

The word “ legacy” was used a lot around him these past few years, as his impact reached into a third generation and even into people that he never met. Greg Gunn, a christian author, once posed the question  “How many dads have a 200 year plan for their family?” To that a typical response would be – no one actually does that. In this case, though - Gary truly did. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a man after God’s own heart. Who he was and how he lived his life created a legacy that continues through his family, friends, and countless other lives that will never be the same because of his gentle wisdom and humble strength.

Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra Stewart of Anna, Texas; daughter, Amy Green and husband Chad of McKinney; son, Benjamin Stewart and wife, Nili of Ashland City, Tennessee; brother, Lee Stewart and wife Jean of Chester, West Virginia; sister Kathy Stewart of Youngstown, Ohio; and grandchildren; Noah, Eliana, Talia, Zion, Hosanna, Grace, Shiloh, Asher, Bethania and Moriah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elizabeth Stewart and brother, William Cameron Stewart.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  Interment will be held at Dallas Fort-Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
