Gary Lynn Dyer, a beloved resident of Van Alstyne, Texas, passed away on February 18, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born on July 27, 1949, to Lendell Wadus Dyer and Lillian Ione (Jones) Dyer. Gary was a proud graduate of Durant High School in Durant, Oklahoma in 1967. He then continued on to earn a degree in Finance with a minor in Marketing from the University of Oklahoma.
Gary spent many years of his career working in manufactured product sales for industrial and commercial construction, where his dedication and expertise made a lasting impact. In 1986, he married the love of his life, Lanette Anderson, in Dallas, Texas. Gary was not just a fan but a passionate supporter of all OU Sooner sports. He found joy in watching football, golf, and olympic track. In High School, Gary won a state championship for track with his 4X4 relay race team, which is now commemorated by a display at Durant High School. One of Gary's favorite things was traveling with his family to the beach and the mountains.
Gary had a warm and welcoming nature, always eager to engage in conversation and connect with others. He was always full of stories and loved to make people laugh. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. He was a loyal husband and a dedicated father. He was a man of great character and honor. Gary was a member of First Christian Church Allen, where his faith and compassion touched many lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lanette Dyer of Van Alstyne, Texas; and their son, Ethan Dyer and wife, Megan of Lewisville, Texas; and many cousins, other loving family members, and cherished friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lendell and Ione Dyer; in-laws, Lee and Bo Dunn; and many aunts and uncles from the Jones and Dyer families.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, February 23, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a graveside interment.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
