Galen Angus Husser, Sr., age 83, of Plano, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2024. Galen was born December 3, 1940 to Elzie Angus and Annie Mae (Booty) Husser in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in New Orleans and graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1958. Following high school, Galen attended the University of Louisiana – Lafayette where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Technology.
Galen married Mary Jane Richard on May 7, 1966 in Evangeline, Louisiana and together they raised four children Jennifer, Melissa, Galen, Jr., and Michelle. Galen had a dedicated career working in sales and management at National Oilwell Varco for 52 years until his retirement in March of 2015. He enjoyed music, movies, sports, and the Houston Astros, but most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
Galen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Husser, of Plano, Texas; children: Jennifer Bailey and husband, Todd, of Lewisville, Texas, Galen Husser, Jr. and wife, Holly, of Monroe, Louisiana, and Michelle Schmidt, of Cypress, Texas; son-in-law, Keith Swan; grandchildren: Josh Bailey and wife, Courtnie, Maegan Bailey, Matthew Husser, Nathan Husser, Corbin Schmidt, Ashtyn Schmidt, and Parker Swan; sister, Sandra Bordelon, of Lafayette, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Swan; and sister, Marie Mathas.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 28, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
