G. E. Hemphill, age 93, of McKinney, Texas, passed away November 11, 2010, in McKinney. G. E. was born January 4, 1917, in Memphis, Texas, to George Emery and Mabel (Davis) Hemphill. He married Eloise Richardson on March 5, 1938, in Durant, Oklahoma. G. E. worked at P & M Furniture for over fifty years with his brother. He was a former baseball player with the Veteran’s Administration baseball team. G. E. was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his daughter, Velda Gee and husband, Ken of Arnold, Missouri; grandson, Clay Gaskill and wife, Sherrie of O’Fallon, Missouri; granddaughter, Victoria Giese of Arnold, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Shane Gaskill, Kaitlyn Gaskill, Shelby Giese, Taylor Giese, and Tyler Russell; sister, Bernice Belt of McKinney, Texas; sisters-in-law, Frances Hemphill of McKinney, Texas and Margie Hemphill of Garland, Texas; companion, Lillian Adams of McKinney, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eloise, brothers, Glenn Hemphill, Edward Hemphill, James Hemphill, and Ray Hemphill, and sister, Velma Rickerson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Tom Waitschies officiating. Interment will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at the funeral home.
