G. Elizabeth Berends, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2013, at the age of 66. She was born on September 28, 1946, in Gainesville, Texas, to James and Laverne (Richardson) Bennett. On February 3, 1968, Elizabeth married Wallace W. Berends in Abilene, Texas. She was a member of Community North Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Elizabeth was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Wally Berends of McKinney; children, Hayley McLain of Quemado, New Mexico, Sean Berends and wife Stacey of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Kiara Berends and Josh McLain; sister, Kathy Hebert of Jasper, Texas; brother, Gary Bennett of Austin, Texas; and father, James Bennett of Jasper, Texas.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her mother, Laverne Richardson Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas, with Dr. Bruce Austin officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Friday evening at the funeral home.
