Freida Lee Hicks, a resident of McKinney, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born on May 26, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later married the late Brady Fate Hicks on May 13, 1961, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Freida was a devoted and nurturing mother of six, pouring her love and care into her family throughout her life.

Hardworking and dedicated, Freida spent her entire life committed to her responsibilities. She resided in McKinney, Texas, for 60 years, where she became an integral part of the community. Freida found joy in the pages of romance novels, relishing every story. She also enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles and word searches, showcasing her sharp intellect.

Cooking was both a passion and a talent for Freida, who delighted in preparing meals for her beloved family and friends. She even pursued cooking professionally, where she worked at a restaurant in downtown McKinney where the crew would go eat. One of her proudest moments came when she worked on the set of the iconic Benji movie, filmed in her cherished McKinney in 1974.

Freida held steadfast to her Baptist faith, finding strength and comfort in her beliefs throughout her life's journey. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Freida leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Freida is survived by her daughter, Betsy Navarro and husband, Arnulfo; son, Dennis Hicks and wife, Cindy Grimes; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Hicks; children, Raymond Hicks, Tommy Hicks, Lisa Hicks and Monty Ruth Hicks; and parents.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2024 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
