Fred Lee Kesinger of McKinney, Texas passed away on August 24, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born on December 14, 1942 to Theodore “T.R.” Kesinger and Fern (Kendell) Kesinger in Pratt, Kansas. Fred married Dianne Smith on April 4, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Fred had a very humble beginning growing up on a wheat farm in post-Dust Bowl Western Kansas. He attended Haviland Schools and played many sports, eventually matriculating at Kansas State University. He worked for many years for Amoco Oil around the Great Plains before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raising a family. He made stops in Louisiana, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado before retiring in McKinney, Texas. He enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time with family and climbing 14ers in Colorado. Fred’s biggest motivation were his five grandchildren and his motto was “everyday is a gift”.
Fred is survived by his wife, Dianne Kesinger of McKinney, Texas; son, David Kesinger and wife, Brooke of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Jill Hartsell and husband, David of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Annabel Kesinger of Atlanta, Georgia, Caitlin Hartsell and Brenna Hartsell, both of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, Anderson Kesinger and Alexander Kesinger of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Doris Headrick of Mullinville, Kansas; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.R. and Fern Kesinger and his brother, Donald Kesinger.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
