Fred McCray

Mr. Fred McCray, of Plano, Texas, passed away January 29, 2004, at the age of 61. He was born December 29, 1942, in Wheeler, Texas, to Wiley and Mardell (Tipps) McCray. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received many awards including the Purple Heart. Mr. McCray worked as a store manager for Chevron for ten years. In his early days, he was a bull rider and was a semi-pro stock car racer. He always supported the M. D. A. (Jerry’s Kids), and was a member of the VFW in McKinney. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his daughters, Kim Bellman and her husband, Jon of Nevada, Texas, and Lori Spicer and her husband, Russ of Plano, Texas; sons, Patrick McCray of Plano and Larry McCray, also of Plano, but now serving in Iraq; ex-wife, Janie McCray of Plano; GOOD friend, Marion Shaffer of Frisco, Texas; uncle, Dean Tipps of Brisco, Texas; and other loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley McCray. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Parkway Hills Baptist Church, 2700 Dallas Parkway, Plano, Texas. Interment will be at DFW National Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
