Fred Lane Neal, age 83, of Frisco, Texas, passed away August 5, 2016. He was born March 7, 1933 in Bernice, Louisiana, to James Jethro and Willie B. (Gray) Neal. On December 26, 1957, Fred married Maxie Ray Guillory in Waukegan, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Fred attended Southern University at Baton Rouge and earned his bachelor’s degree; while there, he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He believed in higher education, and continued his education by earning his master’s degree from Governor’s State University in University Park, Illinois.
He is survived by his daughter, Freida Woods and husband Teryl of Frisco, Texas; granddaughter, Tiffany Terese Hicks and husband Randall of Lavon, Texas; great-grandchildren, Lexi Rene Hicks and Kennedy Ray Hicks; his special niece, Felecia Neal; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Ray Neal; parents, Jethro and Willie Neal; brothers, James Neal and Robert Neal.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation, being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
