Fred Doty, Sr. was born December 13, 1937 at Weatherford, Texas to Mark Doty and Elsie Marrs Doty. He married Joyce Ann Robertson on April 4, 1958 at Ft. Worth, Texas. He died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the age of 72 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. Fred was a retired employee of American Airlines and an active member of the Kentuckytown Baptist Church. He served his nation as a member of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by wife, Joyce Doty of Whitewright; son, Fred Doty, Jr. of Bells; daughter, Teresa Nelson and husband Roy of Whitewright; former daughter-in-law, Kerry Shipman and husband Duane of Garland; granddaughter, Amber Moore and husband Jeff of Dallas; granddaughter, Stephanie Minzenmayer and husband Justin of Whitewright; grandson, Marcus Doty of Garland; granddaughter, Sarah Nelson of Whitewright; great-granddaughter, Haley Moore of Dallas; and expecting his great-granddaughter, Taryn Minzenmayer of Whitewright due to arrive later this year in May; brother, Cecil Doty of Abilene; sister, Patsy Nevil of Weatherford; sister, Mertha Reeves of Westville, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Lorene McLeroy and her husband Lloyd. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Kentuckytown Baptist Church, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Greg Allen and Rev. Rodney Stanford. Burial will follow on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 2:30pm at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers will be Fred Doty, Jr., Marcus Doty, Roy Nelson, Justin Minzenmayer, Josh Youree, Duane Shipman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Royce Roberts, Joe Bodine, Carl Braswell, Bill Coley, Paul Cheek, and Kyle Moore. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright, Texas.
