IN LOVING MEMORY

Frank L. Williams, II

Oct 18 1934 - Apr 08 2019

Frank L. Williams, II of McKinney, Texas passed away on April 8, 2019 at the age of 84.  He was born on October 18, 1934 to Dr. Frank L. Williams, Sr. and Sammie Mae Trigg Williams in Gatesville, Texas. Frank was a 1952 graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas where he met the love of his life, Jean Gurley.  They married on September 4, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. Frank earned his bachelors degree in 1955 from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army with the occupied forces stationed in Nuremberg, Germany.  In 1965, while working for Buick Motor Division, Frank purchased the Buick dealership in McKinney, which he named Williams Buick-Opel. He moved his family to McKinney, Texas in 1967, which became his longstanding residence and home.  Frank proudly served as a founding director of First State Bank of McKinney, which opened for business on November 12, 1970.

In 1983, he purchased the GMC franchise renaming the business to Williams Buick-GMC. With his sons, Frank III and Art, by his side, Frank worked to build the business. Frank felt like going to work every day was a privilege because he was able to chase his passion - selling cars!   In 2000, Frank sold Williams Buick-GMC to enjoy retirement. This included frequent visits to antique auctions where he “could not keep his hand down”. This created many additions to his extensive antique collections.

After retirement, Jean convinced Frank to travel. This included a spectacular cruise to Alaska, the Baltics, and a river cruise down the Rhine River in Europe.  Jean and the boys will treasure these memories with him for a lifetime.  Frank was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of McKinney and a member of the Canafax Sunday school class.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean Williams of McKinney, Texas; son, Frank L. Williams III and wife, Susan of McKinney, Texas; son, Art Williams and wife, Debbie of The Colony, Texas; granddaughter, Dr. Niki Ritchey and husband, Dr. Phil Ritchey of College Station, Texas; granddaughter, Christine Mitchell and husband, Chase Mitchell of Manor, Texas; great granddaughters, Zoë Grace Ritchey and Madeleine Marie Mitchell; nephew, Ken Russell and wife, Cheryl;  great-nephew, Logan Russell, all of Nacogdoches, Texas; and niece, Kathy Jahns and husband Joseph of Hermosa Beach, California.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank L. Williams, Sr. and Sammie Mae Trigg Williams; sister, Sammie Beth Russell and her husband, Dwane Russell.

The family would like to thank Anchor of Hope Hospice for their outstanding care.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment is to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
