Frank Joe Pell, affectionately known as "Frankie" or "Poot," if you had the unfortunate opportunity to be in a confined space with him, passed away on December 13, 2023, at the age of 81 with his son and daughter in law by his side at their home in Melissa, Texas. He was born on January 31, 1942, in McKinney, Texas, to Owen Ray Pell and Naomi (Moore) Pell.
After graduating from Plano High School in 1960, Frank had the misfortune of being drafted into the United States Army. He completed Ranger Training at Ft. Benning and was deployed during the Vietnam War. Frank was honorably discharged and was proud of his service to his country.
For years, Frank worked in Automotive Sales. His knowledge and expertise in the automotive industry allowed him to create many lifelong friendships. Later in his career, Frank went to work for the Collin County Sheriff's Office as a public service officer working in fleet services until his well-deserved retirement.
Frank was a member of the Cowboy Church of Collin County in Princeton, TX. He loved his church family and loved singing the old country worship songs.
Frank would tell everyone his greatest blessing in life was his family. He was blessed with a loving Mother and Father. Frank had three brothers who would do anything for each other. The “Pell Boys” were known by many old timers in the Plano and McKinney communities. Frank would say his Son was the greatest gift from God. Frank was also blessed with his grandsons and devoted spending as much time with them as he possibly could.
He is survived by son, Joe Pell and wife, Erika of Melissa, Texas; grandsons, J.T. Pell and wife, Emily, twins Lane & Levi Pell, and granddaughter Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Noah “Joe Four” Pell, Naomi Pell and Delilah Pell; brother, Jim Pell and wife, Phyllis of Plano, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Frankie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack Pell and Ray Pell.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Fitzhugh Cemetery, 2540 Country Club Road, Lucas, Texas 75002. Pallbearers will be the McKinney Police Motor Unit.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Early visitation for those who, like Frank, do not drive well at night will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
