Frank Jason Laurent, 87, of Murphy, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by his wife and two sons. Born on July 16, 1937, in Queens, New York, to Frank Karl Laurent and Mildred Anderson (Elliott) Laurent, Frank lived a life of kindness, devotion, and quiet strength.
Frank graduated from Forest Hills High School in Queens, New York, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Baruch College in New York City. In 1967, he married Dorothy Wunderlich, beginning a 57-year journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they raised two sons, Robert and Douglas, and he enjoyed a distinguished career with the Celanese Corporation in Manhattan for over 30 years before retiring in 2000 and relocating to Texas in 2005.
Throughout his life, Frank was deeply involved in his local Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He also had a passion for travel and especially loved cruising, embarking on adventures across the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, and beyond. Whether discovering distant lands or enjoying the comforts of home, Frank found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs, and his love extended to the many beloved four-legged companions who brought him great happiness throughout his life.
Frank’s kind spirit, easygoing nature, and genuine warmth touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be remembered for his generosity and optimism, his love for his family, and his ability to make those around him feel valued and cared for.
Frank is survived by his wife, Dorothy Laurent of Murphy, Texas; his sons, Robert Laurent and wife, Natalie, of Sachse, Texas, and Douglas Laurent and wife, Jacqueline, of Parrish, Florida; and his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, Ryan, Michael, and Mason.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
Memorial donations in Frank’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—two causes close to his heart.
