Frank Harry Hamlin, Jr.

Frank Harry Hamlin, Jr. of Anna, Texas passed away September 19, 2012 at the age of 83.   He was born January 24, 1929 to Frank Harry Sr. and Eula (Elkins) Hamlin in Austin, Texas.   Frank served his country proudly in the United States Marines.  He married Kathryn Virginia Thornhill on August 6, 1948 in Dallas, Texas.  Frank owned and operated Frank's Meat Company for 20 years. Before starting Frank’s Meat Company, Frank worked for Wonder Bread, Luby’s Cafeteria, Hubbard's Cafeteria and Quick to Fix. He helped start the Lucas Fire Department in 1973, where he served as fire chief 15 years of his 18 years of service. Frank was a resident of Lucas, Texas for 35 years before residing in Anna for six years, entering the Clyde Cosper Texas State Veteran's Home in Bonham June 3rd, 2010.  He was a member of the Anna United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Hamlin of Anna; daughter, Mickey Lynn Williams of Anna; grandchildren, Rhett, Christopher and wife Carrie, and Blake; great-grandchildren, Lynnde, Kendra and Kathryn; sister, Billie and brother-in-law Bill Layfield of Blue Ridge, Texas.  Frank is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cindy Kay Hamlin; sisters, Helen Douglass, Patsy Garbarini; and infant brother, Jack Hamlin.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Chuck Jestis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Anna United Methodist Church 100 W. Second Street (P. O. Box 245) 75409 or charity of your choice.
