Francis Bryan Causey Jr., (Frank aka Bucky) age 92, of Plano, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 8, 1930, to Evia (Babineaux) and Francis Bryan Causey. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in the Asian-Pacific and Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, MS. Frank was married to the love of his life and dance partner, Joyce Morales, for 69 years and they were blessed with two children, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He put himself through night school and earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Loyola University of New Orleans, and eventually his master’s plus 30 in education from the University of New Orleans. He retired after 30 years in the teaching profession, with 17 years as a principal. He will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. He loved to travel, ballroom dance with his wife, and was a sports enthusiast- especially basketball. He coached basketball at the middle school level, his son’s biddy basketball team, and even adult leagues at the NORD recreation department. He also loved golf and played all the way in to his 90’s. He cherished his family and was unwavering in his support. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.
Francis is survived by his children, Cheryl Causey Jeanfreau and her husband, Louis, of Richmond, Texas, and Francis “Bryan” Causey III and his wife, Melissa, of Frisco, Texas; his grandchildren, Louis Jeanfreau Jr. and his wife, Nicole, and Abby Causey; and his great-grandchildren, Sarah Jeanfreau and Gavin Jeanfreau.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce M. Causey, his parents, Francis and Evia Causey, and his siblings, Ruby McGarvin and Ramona Nelson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana 70053 on Friday, March 10, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior. Inurnment follows at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana 70056.
