Frances “Fran” Warrick, age 77, of Plano, died peacefully, on Sunday, June 22, 2025. She was born July 26, 1947, in Corsicana, Texas, a daughter of the late Franklin Pierce and Virgie Mae Walker (nee Griffin). She was also preceded in death by her grandparents Price and Clemmie Griffin; brothers Robert Griffen and Melvin Joe Walker.
Fran is survived by her loving daughter, Leilani Warrick of Garland, Texas; sister, Linda Patterson of Denton, TX and brother, Martin Walker of Lewisville, Texas. She also leaves behind her nephew Gaylon Griffen of Los Angeles, California, and niece Chasity Lawson of Monroe, Louisiana.
She was unconditionally loving and devoted to her daughter, Leilani, taking an active role her entire life including serving as a Girl Scout leader, attending high school band performances and debutante activities, championing her college education and employment successes, and cheering her on as an adult as she participated in triathlons and running races. Fran was an avid Texas Rangers fan and was overjoyed to watch them win the World Series in 2023. Fran always provided love, nurturing, support, and guidance to her family, always remaining quite humble in her approach. She enjoyed spending time with her family, engaging in activities like regular family dinners, shopping, rodeos, and live concerts or plays. Fran was a faithful member of, and friend to the All Nations UMC family. Fran actively participated in their adult Sunday school classes and remained engaged in the women's group that continued to meet for years after All Nations was no longer an "official" church.
Always a successful scholar, Fran used her God-given talent to care and nurture others by obtaining a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Texas Women’s University in Denton and a Master of Science degree from the College of St. Francis in Illinois. As a registered nurse, Fran began her career at Rancocas Valley Hospital in New Jersey. A natural and accomplished leader, she later worked as a Nursing Supervisor in Milwaukee and four years as a Nursing Administrator at McQuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX. After spending years in hospital settings, she transitioned to the education arena and devoted the next 30 years developing other nursing professionals. Her roles included developing curriculum, contributing to nursing textbooks, and assuring nursing programs met and maintained state and national accreditation standards. She was a faculty member at Paris Junior College and a faculty member and Retention Specialist at Dallas College El Centro Campus. After retiring from El Centro, she returned to teaching, this time at proprietary nursing colleges. Fran completed her nursing career as a Clinical Coordinator at Arizona College of Nursing in Dallas. Throughout her career, Fran retained memberships in professional organizations including the Texas and American Nursing Associations.
