Frances Audine “Dean” Meagher, age 98, of Plano, Texas, passed away April 30, 2021. Audine was born March 23, 1923, in Mulberry, Arkansas, to Jasper Rankin and Bonnie Irene (Mackey) Rankin. She spent most of her life in Haskell, Oklahoma. She graduated from Haskell High School in Haskell, Oklahoma, in 1940. After high school, Audine worked as a secretary at Haskell High School and later was employed at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Audine married William Thomas Meagher on November 20, 1954, in Rockwall, Texas. They moved to Dallas, Texas, where Audine was a Program Operations Officer for the Social Security Administration. She worked there until her retirement in 1979. In November 1960, Audine and Tom adopted their daughter Pam, and moved to Richardson soon after that. After retirement in 1979, Audine worked briefly at UTD as a secretary in the Biology Department. Audine and Tom purchased a travel trailer and enjoyed many trips on the road. Eventually, however, they moved to Harlingen, Texas, where they bought a mobile home and settled down in Country Club Estates where they had a host of friends. The group of friends traveled together, played bridge together, and even Square Danced together. In 1989, grandbabies started arriving, and Audine and Tom moved back to Frisco for many years to be near their grandchildren. After Tom’s death, Audine continued living in Frisco until 2012 when she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Barry Grow.
Audine is survived by her daughter, Pamela Grow and husband, Barry J. Grow of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Taylor Engelking and husband, Eric, of Redondo Beach California, Sara Skaggs and husband, Kyle, of Gunter Texas and Alexa Grow; great-grandchildren, Axel Barry Engelking, Graham William Engelking, and Sawyer Thomas Skaggs; brother, Jimmy Rankin; and numerous nephews, nieces, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Meagher, sisters, Freda Thomas, Jean Durossette, Betty Sandlin, and brothers, Herbert Rankin and Mike Rankin.
Audine was a loving, faithful Christian servant, and she lived out her Christian principles every day. She was a sweet, kind, lovely woman who loved getting and receiving hugs. She always made you feel loved and appreciated and soon after meeting her, you became fast friends. She loved her family and adored her granddaughters and great grandsons. She was an absolute light in the world and she will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 W. Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75033. There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, at her beloved home church, McDermott Road Church of Christ, 3600 McDermott Road, Plano Texas 75025.
Interment will be on Monday, May 10, 2021, in Haskell Oklahoma.
