Floydelle Milam passed away June 12, 2022 in Frisco, Texas at the age of 79. She was born to Floyd Zack and Jane Adelle (Robinson) Pannell on July 11, 1942 in Plainview, Texas.
Floydelle grew up in Tulia, Texas, a tiny town in the panhandle of Texas where she graduated high school in 1960. She grew up in a Christian home and close-knit community. Floydelle was given the nickname “Fuddy” by a classmate in elementary school who could not pronounce Floydelle. She would then forever be known as Fuddy to her friends and family.
Dell attended Lipperts Business College. She worked in administration at several colleges during her career including Jarvis Christian College, Northeast Texas Community College, and Amarillo College. She also worked as a legal secretary with Sprouse Shrader Smith Law Firm in Amarillo and later worked for Wood Law Firm also in Amarillo. In 2013 she moved to Allen, Texas to be near grandchildren. Dell was not quite ready to be fully retired, so she joined Dillon-Gage Metals. She loved her time at DG and all the fun company outings they had. The DG team has been a huge blessing to our mother. As she struggled with illness, they remained loyal and supportive to her through it all.
Dell married Carl Benton on April 27, 1962. They raised their family in the early years in the panhandle of Texas. Carl's career moved them to South Texas and then eventually to Plano, where her children started elementary school.
Dell loved solving jigsaw puzzles, knitting, holidays, birthday gatherings, and her pets--especially her golden retriever Macy.
Our Nonnie had a sweet and joyful spirit. She was an eternal optimist that would always look for the best in humanity or circumstance. She is our hero for her indomitable spirit as she fought valiantly through illness and other challenges.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Benton and wife, Whitney of Allen, Texas; daughter, Carla Benton of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Taylor Trevino, Selah Benton and Davis Benton; brother, Zack Pannell and wife, Nancy of Denton, Texas; sister, Loana Webb of Amarillo, Texas; and sister, Helen Messler and husband, Pete of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many very dear nephews, nieces and cousins. Dell loved her siblings and their families very much. She was preceded in death by her parents.
