IN LOVING MEMORY

Floyd C Flowers

Sep 19 1933 - Jun 09 2025

Floyd C Flowers was born on September 19, 1933 in Bells, Texas to Hershel and Myrtle Flowers. He married Euna Faye Cornelius on December 20, 1958 in Sherman, Texas. They were married for 58 years, until her passing in 2017. Floyd went to join his beloved wife and have a cup of coffee with her once more on June 9, 2025.

Floyd served in the 1st Cavalry Division of the United States Army during the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1956. Following his service, he attended the Grayson County Vocational School through the GI Bill, learning upholstery. Upon completion of his schooling, he worked in a variety of roles, including at Couch Auto Glass in Ardmore, teaching upholstery through the Job Corp in McKinney, and opening his own business, Flowers Upholstery, in Whitewright.

An avid fisherman, he loved hosting parties with the “Wild Bunch,” especially fish fries. Fishing didn’t always love him back though- on one occasion, after expressing frustration with the lack of fish, Floyd threatened to throw his rod and reel into the lake. In what can only be described as a prank by the Almighty, upon the next cast, his rod broke and his reel flew through the air, leaving Floyd with an expression of bewilderment on his face.

He was a proud 50-year member of the Whitewright Masonic Lodge, number 167, as well as a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason. He served his community in a number of ways, including as a city councilman, an election judge, numerous committees at the First United Methodist Church of Whitewright, and little league baseball coach. Most of all though, Floyd loved his family. Especially in his later years, he never missed an opportunity to tell his loved ones “I love you,” and his loved ones never missed an opportunity to tell him the same. We will miss our Patoad.

Floyd is survived by his son, Mike Flowers and wife Charla of Whitewright; grandchildren Micha Flowers and wife Dana, Chelsea Jenkins and husband Ryan, Wesley Bounds and Billey Bounds; great-grandchildren Michala, Benjamin, and Loren Flowers, Woodrow and Cody Jenkins, Haley, Blake, Kyra, and Breanna Bounds, Brady and Colton Bounds; brothers Jerry Flowers and wife Theresa, Roy Flowers and wife Phyllis, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife Faye, stepson Bob Bounds, his parents, his sister Doe, and brothers Gene and Bill.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. Graveside services and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery the following day at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Scottish-Rite Memorial Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
