Florence Marie “Doodie” Godejohn, age 80, of Sanger, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at her residence in Sanger. She was born on September 23, 1942 to the late Michael and Margaret (Dlacich) Plevniak in Youngstown, Ohio where she also graduated from Mooney High School. Florence married soon after high school and had 2 children and became a housewife. The Army moved her family to Killeen, Texas. After the Army, they moved back to Ohio for several years and then to Texas in 1969. She married Clyde Godejohn on August 30, 1975, in Irving, Texas. Florence worked in various industries over the years including finance. She owned her own deli and managed a storage facility. Florence would eventually retire from the baking department at Albertsons in the early 1990’s. In her retirement, she was most often found at Winstar. Her family and friends will miss her entertaining, unfiltered and one-of-a-kind personality.
Florence is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Doug McBride; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kelly McCormick; grandchildren, Colby Gumm, Josh McBride, Jeffrey McBride and husband, Hunter Emory; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and John Evans; uncle, Richard Dlacich, Sr.; cousins, Bill and Genny Sikora; nephews, Michael Evans and wife, Kim and John Evans and wife, Holly; and multiple grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
