Flora “Florene” Hendrix, age 97, of Celina, Texas, passed away March 30, 2023. Florene was born March 7, 1926, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Graydon and Flora Eva (Nollette) White. She married Willie Bob Hendrix on May 8, 1946, in Hastings, Nebraska. Florene was a lifetime member of the Art Club of McKinney, a McKinney Food Pantry volunteer, and was also a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in McKinney.
She is survived by her children, Helen DeFrance of Fairfield, Texas, Becky Lester and husband, Royce of Little Elm, Texas, Bill Hendrix and wife, Kandace of Celina, Texas, Lois Fletcher and husband, Ray of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and John Hendrix and wife, Andrea also of Celina; grandchildren, Leanna Hall and husband, Dicky of Prosper, Texas, Melissa Stroud and husband, Scott of Southlake, Texas, Mark Fredrick and wife, Jenny of Princeton, Texas, Christy DeFrance, Michael DeFrance and wife, Megan, Jason DeFrance and wife, Tara, Kimberly DeFrance, all of Fairfield, Texas, Adam Lester and wife, Danielle of The Colony, Texas, Greg Lester and wife, Ashley of Pilot Point, Texas, Chisum Schreibvogel and wife, Kylie, Dustin Schreibvogel and wife, Kim, Ashley Smith and husband, Matt, all of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Cody Hendrix of Plano, Texas, Kori Hendrix of New York, New York, Danielle Pippa and husband, Marcelo of Dallas, Texas, Jeffrey Lombardozzi of Allen, Texas, and Jessica Lombardozzi of McKinney, Texas; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brother, Greg White; and sisters, Angela Stucky and Jane Moates.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bob Hendrix, nine brothers and sisters, sons-in-law, John Henry DeFrance and Garold Schreibvogel, daughters, Mary Fredrick and Luanna Hendrix, parents, Graydon and Flora White, and great-grandson, Meritt Pierce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 411 Paula Rd., McKinney, Texas, 75069. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 pm – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 109 S. Oklahoma St., Celina, Texas, 75009.
