IN LOVING MEMORY

Felicia Amponsah

Jul 01 1958 - Jul 01 2023

Felicia Amponsah

Mrs. Felicia Amponsah Opoku, or “Yaa Adwapah” as she was affectionately called, was born at home in Juansa on July 1, 1958. Born to her father, the late Opanin Kwasi Amponsah of Obenimase and her mother Obaapanin Elizabeth Frimpongmaa of Juansa. The oldest of eight children on her mother’s side, she was like a mother to all her siblings and even her cousins.

During her formative years, Felicia went on to live with her father in Obenimase where she successfully completed her primary and middle school education.  Felicia, with the support of her family, made her way to Accra where she successfully ran her small business dealing in textiles and clothing. Even as a young woman, she was the hardworking, resourceful, and intelligent business-minded woman we were all blessed to know.

Felicia eventually relocated to Kumasi where she continued with her business.  It was in Kumasi where she met her loving husband, Mr. Joseph Opoku with whom she gave birth to two daughters.  Joseph eventually left to attend school at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida and Felicia left Ghana shortly after to unite with him in the United States. They eventually relocated to Dallas, Texas where Felicia spent most of her life although she always made it a point to visit her family back home regularly.

She was a woman of God who never took her faith or walk with God for granted and sought Him in all that she did.  Felicia made Church of Pentecost (North Dallas Assembly) her church home where she continued to be an active member until the end.

She was dedicated to her family and was always a continuous source of support and guidance.  Felicia was kind to everyone she came across and treated anyone she encountered with love and respect. She was a problem-solver, resilient, witty and comforting at all times.

These are the things that made it easy for those around her to find refuge in her.

The void she leaves behind is indeed great, but not greater than the legacy she leaves behind. She will never be forgotten and will continue to be remembered in the many ways we were blessed to experience her during this lifetime. We find solace in knowing that after fighting an illness so hard to spend more time with the family she loved, she is resting peacefully, free of pain - in a better place.

Felicia, may you rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord. Until we all meet again, may the Good Lord keep your soul. Amen!
