Remembering Everardo Montanez
Many of you knew him as Everardo, Lalo, Guerro or Hooter. To us he is our lovable, funny, quiet and caring father. The memories that he leaves us with are too many to count and we don’t have enough time to share them all - so many stories. He touched many people throughout many decades and hearing their stories only grows his presence and person that we were lucky to have. His struggles through life made him value his family more than anything. Through every mistake that he made he grew a lesson that he shared with us. He taught us to love with the little things and made sure that we always had food, shelter and that mom was always with us. He made sure that we always saw the best of him and the best of our family. We all wish that we would have learned more about you. The things that made you the person that you were and tell your story to all those who will listen to us.
We weren’t ready for him to leave us, but God needed him more than we did. He probably needed someone to crack jokes, because he loved cracking and playing jokes.
It is never going to be easy to come home and not see him. To be able to hug him, share a meal, see him spoil his grandkids and just have his contagious spirit around. We know that he is free now and there is no pain. There is no more waiting to get better or waiting for better news. He went out doing exactly what he wanted to do and passed peacefully. You will always be remembered Dad. You will forever live in our hearts, minds and in spirit. We don’t want to want to say goodbye. We want to say that we will see you one day again, and when we do you will have a grill ready for us to cook out together.
Thank you God for giving us our Dad; for allowing us to enjoy every memory with him. We hope to make you proud as you look over us. Your train finally came in and has taken you for the final ride.
