Evelyn Glock, 97, of McKinney, TX, was called home August 14, 2020, to spend a glorious eternity with our Almighty God and Father and her beloved husband, Bill. Daughter of Felix and Agnes Alber, Evelyn was born July 4, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from St. Basil High School and remained a proud alumni throughout her life. She worked a short time at Heyl & Patterson while she awaited Bill’s return from service as an Army Air Corp bomber pilot in WWII. This is when Evelyn began her informal writing career as she penned a love letter to Bill every day that he was away. She married Bill (William L. Glock, Sr.) on August 22, 1945. They built a home in Baldwin where they lived for 50 years until moving to Texas in 2004 to be closer to their children. Evelyn’s boundless love and energy were devoted to her 61 years with Bill and the nurturing and welfare of her family.
Evelyn was a vivacious woman who laughed easily and often, and found great joy in simple pleasures of nature and life itself. She was a devout Catholic, reverent servant of God and church, loving wife, mother, grammy and great-grammy, amazing cook, meticulous homemaker, enviable gardener, trusted friend, caring neighbor and community volunteer. She enjoyed nothing more than being in Bill’s arms dancing to their all-time favorite “In The Mood”, gatherings of family and friends, sharing her vegetable soup, nut cups and candies, playing volleyball, swimming, and for decades wearing her crown title of Scrabble Queen. Those who knew her will remember having laughed or cried, or both, reading one of Evelyn’s personalized, heartfelt, and creative cards, notes or letters.
Evelyn is preceded in death by husband Bill, and sisters Joann Paul and Patricia Alber. She is survived by children Janet Sorce and husband Fred, Bill Glock, Jr., and wife Liliana, Barbara Glock, BJ (Betty Jo) Kesterson and husband Fred, grandchildren Denise Mistick, Deborah Lackovic, Brian Sorce, Abby Glock, Priscilla Flores and Ellis Kesterson, nine great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, her beloved brother Bill Alber and sister-in-law Ida Mae, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and generations of friends.
The Glock family thanks the compassionate staffs of Pathway Hospice and Vitality Court Texas Star Assisted Living/Memory Care Residence for loving our mother like she was their own. God bless all of you abundantly.
Surely no future 4th of July celebration will pass without a toast to our mother and the matriarch of the Alber family. Enjoy God’s eternal peace, Mum! Until we meet again, see ya later, alligator!
