On June 24, 2024, Evelyn Perry Parker passed peacefully from this life to be with the Lord.

Evelyn was born December 23, 1929, in the family farmhouse in Leake County Mississippi.

She was the daughter of Booker P. Perry and Etta M. Beckham Perry and had seven siblings: Irvin, Ernest, Marzine, John David, Elton, Vera Mae Perry Smith, and Odessa Perry Stuart.

Although her daughter, Sheila Willey Fink, and her husband, Shorty Parker, preceded her in death, she is survived by her son, Johnny Earl Willey of Iredale Texas, her grandchildren Lawrence Perry Fink and Brian Jeremy Fink, and her great grandchildren, Eden Kay Fink and Rowan Carter Fink, all living in Texas.

Evelyn was a child of the great depression who helped work the family farm and graduated from Edinburg High School in three years. She was a career employee of Morrison’s Cafeteria and attended their management school. She completed her professional career as Director of Food Services at Wadley Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Evelyn was a devoted member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Mississippi and very active in Lebanon Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas. She spent her later years in service to the church and her family. She loved spending holidays and special occasions with her family members, Don J. Fink, his son, Lawrence Perry Fink, his wife, Lisa Hollinger and their two children, Eden and Rowan, contributing her famous cakes, pies, fried green tomatoes, and fried okra to the family celebrations. She never missed her great grandson’s French horn concerts or her great granddaughter’s dance competitions and theatrical performances, always cheering them on in all of their endeavors.

Evelyn was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother and had many friends and neighbors who will miss her big smile and warm heart. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Shorty Parker, at Spring Creek Baptist Cemetery in Philadelphia, Mississippi after a visitation and funeral service starting at 1 pm on Sunday June 30th at Wilcox Funeral Home, 106 S. Jordan St. Carthage, Mississippi.
