Evelyn Kemp Bourland

Evelyn Kemp Bourland of McKinney, Texas passed away on March 23, 2016 at the age of 94.  She was born on July 22, 1921 to Virgel and Clara Bell (Jones) Kemp in Farmersville, Texas.  Evelyn graduated from Farmersville High School in the class of 1939.  She was a member of Eastern Star and the Women’s Auxiliary 740 Tank Battalion.  Evelyn married Clayton Bourland on April 26, 1941 in Gainesville, Texas.  He preceded her in death on October 12, 2003.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas. Evelyn was a Sunday school teacher in Dumas, Texas. She was an avid supporter of the Special Olympics, but most important she was a loving wife and mother.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lucretia Barch and husband David; son, Don Bourland and wife Brenda all of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Johnny Clayton Shanks, Monette McCollom, Bryan Bourland, Scott Bourland and Taunya Rother; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Denease (Neasie) Bourland; and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, March 25, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
