Eugenia “Genie” Gardner

Eugenia “Genie” Gardner of McKinney, Texas passed away on April 11, 2023 at the age of 84.  She was born September 27, 1938 to Enoc Edward Meaders and Edna Grace (Pendley) Meaders in Atlanta, Georgia, where she grew up. Genie was a 1956 graduate of J. C. Murphy High School, now known as Alonzo A. Crim High School.  In 1960 she earned her bachelor’s degree in education from University of Georgia, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta.  Genie married Charles Robert Gardner, Jr. on January 6, 1961 in Decatur, Georgia.  Her extensive teaching career included working for schools in Atlanta and DeKalb County, Georgia as well as in Richmond, Virginia.  She also worked as a part-time Math Specialist in Fairfax County, Virginia.  Genie loved interior decorating and shopping and was an avid reader.  She most loved spending time with family and friends.  Genie was a devoted member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Charles Gardner, Jr. of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Cyndi Priddy and husband, Mark of Flower Mound, Texas and Tracie Epps and husband, Jason of Frisco, Texas; grandchild, Celeste Priddy; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Genie was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2023 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Dr. Don Renshaw will officiate.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Memorial contributions may be made in Genie’s memory to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
