Eugene Kirkwood, age 82, of Fairview, Texas, passed away June 20, 2011, in Fairview. Eugene was born November 24, 1928, in Plano, Texas, to Fred Hayes and Maurine (Mattlock) Kirkwood. He married Reta Lee Sartain on November 22, 1952, in Durant, Oklahoma. Eugene grew up in Collin County where he was a lifetime resident. He was a sign maker and painter for over twenty years at Texlite, Inc. in Dallas, Texas. Eugene was also a farmer and worked in maintenance at Princeton and Lovejoy school districts. He is survived by his son, Michael Eugene Kirkwood and wife, Sharon of Mesquite, Texas; daughter, Brenda Kathleen Peebles and husband, Billy of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Peebles, Joe Peebles, Nikkole Houston, and Shannon Houston; brother, Wellington Kirkwood of Bonham, Texas; 5 great grandchildren; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Michael Fred Kirkwood. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
