Ethel Elizabeth Rogers

Ethel Elizabeth Rogers, age 92, of Frisco, Texas passed away on July 25, 2016. She was born on February 28, 1924 in Dallas, Texas to Verna Cenie (Post) and John Benjamin Bloomfield. In 1945, Ethel married Hilly Rogers in Dallas, Texas.  

Ethel is survived by her five children, Richard Rogers and his wife, Madeline of Waco, John W. Rogers of El Paso, Cynthia E. Schaffer of Frisco, Mark E. Rogers of Dallas and Vernon M. Rogers of San Diego; seven grandchildren, Michael Rogers, Jennifer Shah, Orion Gonzalez, Eric Schaffer, Christopher Rogers, Samantha Rogers and Brandon Rogers; five great-grandchildren. 

Ethel is preceded in death by her mother Verna Cenie (Post) Bloomfield and father John Benjamin Bloomfield, her husband, Hilly Falls Rogers, Sister, Alice Davis and brother, Samuel Bloomfield. 

Ethel lived most of her life in Dallas. In the early years of their marriage Ethel worked for the railroad as a telegraph operator and Morris code operator sitting in the caboose so she see some of the country while her husband was in the army. She worked at the Water Dept for the City of Dallas. Then going to work for the Dallas Public Library for 20 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved crocheting, she had won honorable mention at the fair for a bedspread she had crocheted. She loved reading, western books (Louis L’amour) was her favorite. She loved watching wrestling, the Von Erich’s and later John Cena.  She loved road trips sometimes just traveling with her finger guiding her way on a map in her living room. There were times she and her daughter would take weekend road trips to some parts of the Hill Country. She loved history so stopping to see the historic buildings along the way were a favorite. She also loved the roses at her daughters, especially the red ones. Red being her favorite color.  

Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, 75033 on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
