Elizabeth Houser

Elizabeth Houser of McKinney, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2018, at the age of 84 after fighting a long illness.  She was born September 19, 1933, to Vernon Purvis Johnson and Elsie Irene (Cooke) Johnson in Monroe, Louisiana. Elizabeth married James “Jim” E. Houser on December 24, 1952, in Madera, California. They lived in Fresno, Whittier and La Mirada California respectively until 1979, when they relocated to Dallas Texas for 10 years.  After a short return to La Habra Heights, California, they returned to Texas in 1996 to live near family in McKinney for the rest of their lives. Being around her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were Elizabeth’s passion and delight. She was very active and loved being outdoors.  Over her life, Elizabeth enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Europe, gardening and landscaping, and ever shopping for every sort of helpful product and gadget for herself and her family.  She was a “Pink Lady“ volunteer at the McKinney Medical City for sixteen years helping patients, visitors and their families with information, directions and comfort.  Elizabeth loved giving and providing for her family and others.  She was a fiercely loyal Mom, Gramma, Nana and friend.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Houser of McKinney Texas; son, Keith Houser and wife Stacy of McKinney, Texas; daughter Sandy Pereira and husband David of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Houser and wife Katie; Russell Houser and wife Lindsay, Reid Houser and wife Teresa; and Alissa Pereira; great-grandchildren, Alex Kruk, Gavin Houser, Levi Houser, Evelyn Houser, Ethan Kruk, Grace Elizabeth Houser, and Lincoln Houser; numerous nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Jim Houser and siblings, Vernon Johnson, Mary Eastwood, and Philip Johnson.

A funeral service celebrating Elizabeth’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
