Ethel Marie Bair

Ethel Marie Bair, age 85, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2015. She was born November 11, 1930, in Wakeeney, Kansas, to Ted and Clara (Mayer) Kling.  On October 20, 1950, Ethel married Robert Gail Bair, Sr. in Kansas City, Kansas.  She grew up in Kansas City, where she graduated from Wyandotte High School and was known for her athletic ability, as well as her grace and decorum as a lady.  

Ethel worked in the administration offices for Houston oil and gas, construction in Dallas, and the Mayors office and Legal Secretary in Pasadena, Texas. 

She was active supporting several community organizations such as the International Myeloma Foundation, Wounded Warriors Project, Blinded and Paralyzed Veterans, McKinney Police and National Law Officers, Salvation Army, KERA, and a special heart for the Great Plains Indians Reservation Schools.

Ethel had the spiritual gift of uplifting others and practiced it constantly by sending handwritten cards and letters of encouragement.  She was a longtime member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen, Texas and First Christian Church in Pasadena, Texas.  Ethel was unable to attend services for the past year, but watched several pastors each Sunday on television.

She is survived by her children, Robert G. Bair, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Ronald L. Bair and wife Cindy of Montgomery, Texas and Susan Marie Carothers of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Brandon Carothers, Laura Sweatt, Emily Simmons, Ronald L. Bair, Jr. and Justin R. Bair; great-grandchildren, Autumn Carothers, Aiden Carothers, Landon Sweatt, Lillie Sweatt and Savannah Bair; brother, Norman Kling; brother-in-law, Ronald D. Bair; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wise; and many dear friends at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Clara Kling and husband, Robert Gail Bair, Sr., her brother, Donald Kling and sister, Shirley Kerfes.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
