IN LOVING MEMORY

Esther Elizabeth “Betty” Davis

Aug 14 1942 - Jul 04 2026

God called Esther Elizabeth “Betty” Davis home on July 4, 2026 where she is free of pain and celebrating with Jesus!  Recently, Betty shared her testimony –miracle stories of God’s goodness and how He had been taking charge of every concern she’d ever had.  Though faced with a prognosis that would defeat most of us, Betty wanted to encourage her audience with the hope she held: “I can’t tell you how marvelous it is to know that I am in God’s hands! I’ve had a good long life and I’m ready to go to heaven if God calls me home.”  Beautiful, strong, funny, compassionate—Betty lived her life with everything she had, and we were all so blessed to witness it.

On any given day you could find Betty digging in her garden, planning a get-together with lifelong friends, playing cards (She loved to win!), or singing with her church group at a nursing home. She worked for years as a personal assistant and then a bookkeeper, but Betty’s priorities were always God and family- and her family were at the heart of her prayers for 50 years.

She is survived by her beloved husband Elliott “Skip” Davis Sr.  Although they knew one another since childhood, neither ever imagined that they would eventually be reintroduced and choose each other for these past 20 years.  Betty was a devoted mother to Dana Day, Craig Day, and Lisa Day, a welcoming bonus mom to Elliott Davis Jr., and Cara Walter, and a gracious mother-in-law to Jeff Marquardt, Jacque Day, Nye Gorelangton, Gina Davis, and Tim Walter. She is also survived by grandchildren: Emma, Sophie, Ava, Kainoa, Alex, Jaxson, Bailey, Evan, Patrick, and brand new great-grandchildren: Julia Rae and Aldo Owen.

Betty LOVED … Jesus, friends and family, flowers, bright colors, sunshine, peach cobbler, and fun.  She was a fighter who encouraged all of us to keep contending in prayer for families, health issues, and all of our needs.  In her testimony, she shared one of her favorite verses-- “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We love you, Betty.  We can’t wait to join you and Jesus one day soon.

Please join us for A Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday July 23, 2026 at Heritage Church, 4045 West El Dorado Parkway, McKinney, Texas 75070.
