Ernest Hartley Barber

Mr. Ernest Hartley Barber, age 86, of Ammon, Idaho passed away December 12, 2004, in Ammon. He was born June 25, 1918, to Ernest Robinson and Juanita G. (Haley) Barber in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he spent 75 years on his life. He was a choir member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre, malaria control. Mr. Barber was an entomologist and worked in the family business, Barber Labs and Pest Control. He was past president of the Louisiana State Pest Control Association. He married Persis M. Johns and had 3 children. They divorced in 1960. In the early 90’s he moved to Allen, Texas to live near his daughter, Gail and her family. While living in Allen, Ernie attended the Allen Episcopal Church and loved to see neighbors as he shopped at Winn-Dixie. In November of 1998, he married Alberta M. Hamilton of Dallas. Ernie will lovingly be remembered for his kind words, and his tender love of animals. As he worked in his garden he praised the good Lord for the sunshine and rain. He is survived by his wife, Alberta Lee Barber; daughters, Joy Bernard of Holden, Louisiana, Gail Rugg of Provo, Utah and Linda Auld of New Orleans, Louisiana; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Mortimer. A graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2004, at Ridgeview Memorial Park with Rev. Neal Jeffrey officiating.
