Erma “Joyce” Kiser, 92, of McKinney Texas, went to be with her Lord Jesus on September 17, 2018. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her children, Ron Kiser and Brenda Fox. Joyce was born in Martin County Texas on October 5, 1925 to Aubry and Othel Fitts. She was a wonderful and loving wife to the love of her life Floyd Clyde Kiser whom she married on March 9, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas, and who preceded her in death after 59 years of marriage. Joyce was a very much loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.
Among her many talents, Joyce was razor sharp, quick witted and had a way with numbers. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for Dunlap’s and Basin Welding Supply in Odessa, Texas. She even loved doing math homework with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family, even though we tried to overwork her sometimes. She made dresses for the girls, men’s suits, quilts and blankets and even doll clothes for the granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She was an avid bowler reminding us often of her several 300 games with trophies to prove it. Wow! She was very competitive and loved playing bridge and dominoes, especially when she was winning. Joyce enjoyed painting, creating and decorating lampshades with her daughter in their “Shady Lady” business. Joyce and Floyd enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel trailer with many of their friends. She was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, loved watching college football and knew more about the Texas Rangers baseball team than anyone else, including 13 year old boys!
Joyce worshiped at several Churches of Christ over her lifetime; Sherwood in Odessa, Johnson Street in San Angelo, Golf Course Road in Midland and McDermott Road in Plano, Texas.
Joyce is survived by her son, Ronald Kiser and wife, Sandi of Odessa, Texas and daughter, Brenda Fox and husband Rick of McKinney, Texas.
She was lovingly called grandma by her six grandchildren, Krista Bigham and husband, Gene of Cedar Hills, Texas; Kevin Kiser and wife, Sheila of Burleson, Texas; Kendra Lawson and husband, Chris of Allen, Texas, Kimberly Stokes and husband, Rhett of Richardson, Texas; Brian Fox and wife, Melanie of Dallas, Texas; and Allison Considine and husband, Jason of Frisco, Texas.
Joyce, who was known by her great-grandchildren as “Gigi”, was also survived by all 14 of them, Katelyn, Cooper, Brett, Sutton, Rachael, Zachary, Gunner, Teagan, Anslee, Ella, Sadie, Toby, Graham, and Dylan; as well as two great-great grandchildren, Gabriel and Kamden.
She was also survived by her sister, Marjorie Humble, brothers, Albert Fitts and wife, Nora and Oran Fitts and wife, Betty as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wade Fitts and Buford Fitts and her beloved friend, Bryan Pollard.
